Walmart Marketplace is selective. Unlike some marketplaces where anyone can open an account in an afternoon, Walmart reviews each Walmart Marketplace seller application and decides whether the business is a good fit. Applications that are incomplete, inconsistent or vague about products and fulfillment are often declined or delayed.
KM Automations and Services helps sellers with Walmart seller account approval. We help you prepare the business information, documents and catalog details Walmart asks for, help you complete the application, and once Walmart approves the account, help you set up and launch your store.
Walmart's seller requirements
Walmart publishes its requirements on its Marketplace site and in the application itself. For US sellers they have included:
- Business tax ID. A US business tax ID (EIN), with supporting documents such as a W-9 and your IRS EIN verification letter.
- Business details. Your legal business name and address, written exactly as they appear on your tax documents.
- Ecommerce history. Information about where and how you already sell online, such as other marketplaces or your own website.
- Catalog. Products that are allowed on Walmart Marketplace, with valid GTINs (such as UPC barcodes) for your items.
- Fulfillment and service. The ability to ship quickly with tracking, accept returns in the US and provide responsive customer service.
- Policy compliance. Agreement to Walmart's Marketplace policies and seller agreement.
Walmart can change its requirements at any time, and they differ for sellers based outside the US. Check the current requirements in Walmart's seller application before you apply. We prepare your application against what Walmart asks for today.
Why applications get declined
Walmart does not always explain a decision in detail, but declined or delayed applications usually trace back to a few issues:
- Mismatched business information. The legal name or address on the application differs from the EIN letter or W-9.
- A thin or unclear sales history. Little evidence of selling online, or links that don't show an active business.
- Catalog problems. Products in prohibited or restricted categories, or missing or invalid product identifiers.
- No clear fulfillment plan. Vague answers about how orders will ship, how fast, and how returns are handled.
- Incomplete answers. Fields left blank or answered too briefly for Walmart to assess the business.
Our application process
- Book a call. We learn about your business, your products and where you sell today.
- Readiness review. We check your tax documents, business details, catalog and fulfillment setup against Walmart's current requirements.
- Close the gaps. We help you fix mismatches, confirm product identifiers and write down a clear fulfillment and returns plan.
- Application. We help you complete the Walmart Marketplace seller application so every answer is accurate and consistent.
- Follow-up. If Walmart asks for more information or declines the application, we review the response and help you prepare a stronger one.
Walmart makes the final decision on every application. We don't promise approval or a timeline; we help you submit the most complete and accurate application your business supports.
Onboarding: catalog, shipping, integrations
Approval is the start, not the finish. After Walmart approves your application, Seller Center guides you through onboarding before your items go live. We help with each step:
- Profile, tax and payments. Completing your seller profile, tax information and payout details accurately.
- Shipping and returns. Setting up shipping templates and return settings you can meet, and deciding whether to ship yourself or use Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS).
- Item setup. Creating items with Walmart's category templates and required attributes, good images and complete content, since content quality affects how items appear in search.
- Integrations. If you sell on several channels, connecting Walmart to your inventory or listing tools through an integration Walmart supports, so stock stays in sync.
Managing the account after launch
Walmart measures sellers against its seller performance standards, which cover areas such as on-time delivery, valid tracking, cancellations and customer response times. Falling below them can lead to warnings, suppressed items or account restrictions. Review the performance pages in Seller Center on a schedule and fix issues early.
Our Walmart Marketplace management takes on that day-to-day work: item content, performance reviews, pricing checks and fulfillment workflows. Our ecommerce store management guide explains how Walmart differs from Amazon if you prefer to run it yourself. If a Walmart account has been suspended or restricted, we also help by reviewing the issue, preparing documentation and drafting appeals.

Frequently asked questions
What are Walmart Marketplace seller requirements?
Walmart has asked US applicants for a US business tax ID (EIN) with supporting tax documents, business and address details, information about their ecommerce or marketplace history, a catalog with valid product identifiers (GTINs such as UPCs), and the ability to ship quickly with tracking and handle US returns and customer service. Requirements change, so check the current list in Walmart's seller application before you apply.
How long does Walmart seller approval take?
Walmart controls the review timeline, and it varies from application to application. Nobody outside Walmart can promise a date. A complete application with matching documents avoids the delays you can control, and onboarding after approval takes extra time to set up items, shipping and payments.
Can I reapply if Walmart declines me?
Generally, yes. Read any reason Walmart gives, fix what was missing or inconsistent (for example tax documents, product identifiers or fulfillment details), and apply again when the application is genuinely stronger. Submitting the same application again rarely changes the result.
Do I need US marketplace experience?
Walmart's application asks about your ecommerce and marketplace history and takes it into account. A track record on other marketplaces or your own website helps show you can meet Walmart's standards, but Walmart does not publish a fixed threshold. Check the current application for what it asks.
Do you manage Walmart stores after approval?
Yes. After launch, our Walmart Marketplace management covers item content, Seller Center performance reviews and fulfillment workflows, as part of our ecommerce store management services.
